Benefits Operations Specialist
6-month contract, extension possible
Location: Oakland, CA (remote)

$28-32/hr


Must Haves:
  • HS diploma
  • At least 2 years of benefits experience (2-5 years ideal)
  • Experience using Workday HCM
  • Basic knowledge of benefits federal, state, and local laws
Preferred:
  • Workday Benefits is a plus
  • Advance experience with google docs and microsoft office
  • Experience with Jira or different ticketing system

 Job Description:

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to Tier 2 employee queries and assist Scale Support with Tier 0 /1 queries as needed  via JIRA Cloud ticketing system and support the Benefits team on all operational needs. 
  • Provide functional support to employees needing assistance with Benefits Employee Self Services (ESS) transactions 
  • Assist with benefits day to day processing in Workday for new hires, terminations, and qualified life events
  • Partner with the Business Systems team to resolve benefits-related system issues, implement process improvements, and test system changes as needed
  • Assist with EOIs administration support and integration error reviews by partnering with Block’s insurance carriers and our HRIS tool, Workday 
  • Support the planning of annual open enrollment and other benefits changes  
  • Assist with personal leaves, accommodations, outplacement services, worker compensation requests and assist with confirming return to work dates for all leaves as needed 
  • Collaborate with Benefits Program Managers on special projects 
  • Ensure company compliance with yearly audits, plan documents and all federal, state, and local laws
  • Assist with responding to government notices and ensure reporting requirements are met in a timely manner, including required notice distribution
  • Responsibilities and tasks may change and shift as we operationalize and streamline
Qualifications/Skills:
  • 2-3+ years of previous Benefits experience 
  • Experience using Workday HCM (Workday Benefits is a plus)
  • Familiar with JIRA Cloud or similar ticketing tracking system 
  • Advance experience with google docs and microsoft office a plus
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data
  • Passionate about developing efficient processes and driving results
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of benefits federal, state, and local laws
